The September 2011 issue of Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) magazine named Venable partner Bill Russell to its IAM Licensing 250 rankings. IAM noted that Russell came to “Venable in 2010 to extend the reach of its technology transactions capabilities, and has given it a strong foothold in the technology market. He is an expert drafter and negotiator for a wide range of agreements, including software licenses, business process outsourcing agreements and medical device development and distribution agreements.”

Launched in 2003, IAM magazine helps organizations address the need to maximize the value of their IP and other intangibles, as well as examine the necessary strategies that need to be put in place to accomplish their goals. IAM's rankings were compiled over a four month period through research that included telephone interviews and email exchanges with attorneys and client referees provided by participating firms.
