On December 5, 2011, the Maryland Legal Service (MLS) honored Venable partner Mitch Mirviss with Arthur W. Machen, Jr. Award. The award is presented annually by MLS to an attorney who has rendered extraordinary service by providing civil legal services to the poor or by improving delivery systems that help them.
Commenting on the award in a November 27, 2011 Daily Record article, a colleague of Mirviss said, “Mitch is an indefatigable advocate for children, working on many fronts to ensure that children and adolescents have access to the courts, their voices are heard in the legislature, and their well-being not lost in the labyrinth of public agencies charged with their protection.” Another colleague added, “Mitch’s dedication to the disadvantaged children of Maryland is unparalleled. The good that he has done for them can never be measured.”
