Venable partner Larry Norton was quoted in an August 6, 2012 Washington Post article on fundraising in the presidential election. Earlier this week, President Barak Obama and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney announced their fundraising totals for the month of July. Both candidates are expected to opt out of federal funding for their campaigns meaning fundraising for both will continue through the election.
Commenting on the increased importance and pace of fundraising needed for a presidential campaign, Norton said, “The fundraising never stops… Presidential candidates need to spend a vast amount of time, typically at several events a day, raising money and calling donors. I don’t know that any of them have a tremendous stomach for it, but they have to do it.”
