Venable partner Stu Ingis was quoted in an August 21, 2012 Law360 article on a new icon that allows mobile users to opt out of targeted advertising and third-party attempts to collect data. The move by targeted mobile advertiser Jumptap Inc. and technology company Evidon Inc. extends the AdChoices icon developed by the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) to mobile ads and ads within applications. The move comes as the DAA continues to expand its self-regulatory program for online behavioral advertising.

Commenting on the move, Ingis, who serves as DAA counsel, said the group expects these mobile principles to “be adopted by the entire ecosystem sometime this fall.” Additionally, Ingis said, “The DAA program continues to be very successful in furthering responsible data practices, [and] we are encouraged by efforts to extend the AdChoices icon in the mobile space.”
