Venable partner Stu Ingis was quoted in a July 29, 2013 Bloomberg BNA article on the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) ongoing efforts to facilitate the development of a mobile privacy code of conduct. To date, the NTIA’s efforts have led to a document calling for mobile application developers to be more transparent with the collection and sharing of consumer data. Despite the efforts, many stakeholders agree that significant work remains.
“There has been a lot of good work and progress done here, but it is not a finished consensus product,” said Ingis, who serves as counsel to the Digital Advertising Alliance, a consortium of leading marketing trade groups across the country. “Efforts to just declare consensus ultimately will undercut the process and adoption,” he added.
