Venable partner and former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Jim Burnley was quoted in a February 26, 2014 DC Velocity article on the Obama Administration’s proposal for $306 billion in new transportation infrastructure funding. The funding, part of the President’s 2015 fiscal budget request includes $199 billion on highway programs, $7 billion for highway safety, $19 billion for rail programs, and $81 billion for mass transit programs and federal grants to spur policy innovation.

According to Burnley, the proposal is a good starting point. “It would be even more helpful if they would permit DOT to send a draft reauthorization bill to Congress,” he added.
