Center for Public Integrity quotes Larry Norton on FEC’s struggles without general counsel

In a June 19, 2014 article, the Center for Public Integrity quoted Venable partner Larry Norton on struggles facing the Federal Election Commission (FEC) due to the absence of a legal director. July 5 will mark the one year anniversary since the commission’s previous general counsel left to rejoin private practice and no one has been appointed to serve as acting general counsel.

Without a general counsel, Norton, who served as FEC general counsel from 2001 to 2007, said the FEC’s legal office will likely operate “more cautiously, if not more timidly…And there's probably little or no long-term planning going on.”
