ABA Journal features Kevin Shepherd’s domestic and international efforts

The 100th anniversary edition of the ABA Journal published in January 2015 features Kevin Shepherd's domestic and international efforts as chair of the ABA Task Force on Gatekeeper regulation and the Profession. Entitled "Appropriate Disclosure," the article highlights Kevin's October 3, 2014 letter on behalf of the ABA to U.S. Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network commenting on "intermediated accounts" under proposed Treasury regulations. The article discusses Kevin's concerns about the burdens the proposed regulations would impose on the legal profession and the adverse impact the proposed regulations could have on the ethical obligations of U.S. lawyers. Internationally, the article notes a publication to assist lawyers in detecting and preventing money laundering that was prepared by the ABA, the International Bar Association and the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe. Kevin led the ABA’s efforts on this global publication.
