Venable partner Jim Burnley was quoted in a July 17, 2015 McClatchy article on Congress' patchwork approach to the highway trust fund. Last week, the House of Representatives voted to extend the highway trust fund for a few more months while promising to address a bigger bill down the road. Congress has taken this approach for years while trying to agree on a long-term funding solution.
"Nobody's been happy about it," said Burnley. "Nobody thinks it’s a good way to govern." Noting that the problem could linger into 2017 when there is a new president and congress, Burnley added, "Neither party is going to want to deal with this in an election year."
