Venable Managing Director of Cybersecurity Services Ari Schwartz was quoted in a June 15, 2016 Law360 article on the implementation of the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act passed last December. To date, only about 30 companies are actively sharing cyberthreat information with the federal government through a portal set up by the Department of Homeland Security. That number is expected to grow in coming months as companies' tensions ease over liability issues and working with the federal government.
"I think a lot of companies haven’t really been focused on implementation yet but rather have been on hold until [the DHS guidance came out] today," said Schwartz.
