Business Insurance quotes Ron Taylor on OSHA's electronic record-keeping rule

Venable partner Ron Taylor was quoted in a June 12, 2016 Business Insurance article on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) new rule for electronic record-keeping published last month. The rule has raised concerns about OSHA’s plans to publish injury and illness information on a web platform, its stance against mandatory drug testing policies following an incident, and the creation of a citation-based process to handle allegation of employer retaliation.

"Not only does the rule provide an incentive not to record questionable cases, it also encourages employees disciplined for legitimate reasons to claim retaliation," said Taylor. "That represents a real intrusion of OSHA into the employer-employee relationship at a workplace unrelated to safety."
