Venable managing director of cybersecurity services Ari Schwartz was quoted in a September 16, 2016 FedScoop article on the recently launched Vendor Security Alliance. Made up of some of the world's largest technology companies, the alliance announced that next month it would unveil a questionnaire to assess the cybersecurity of vendors wishing to do business with its members. The questionnaire was drawn up after consulting the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and other reference documents and will be updated annually.
Schwartz welcomed the announcement of the alliance questionnaire saying it is a needed alternative to other compliance processes. "A lot of companies have focussed on ISO compliance, but that doesn't address specific risks or security threats that the company might pose to buyers," he added.
