On January 8, 2017, Venable's Managing Director of Cybersecurity Services, Ari Schwartz, appeared on MSNBC to discuss Russia’s attempts to influence the 2016 presidential election by hacking emails of top Democratic organizations and officials. The interview focused on a recent report by U.S. intelligence officials detailing Russia’s efforts and motivations behind the cyberattacks and President-Elect Donald Trump's questioning of its accuracy.

Schwartz said he thinks, "Russia is going to continue to hack as long as it's an advantage to them," and that it was scary they were able to succeed in discrediting certain individuals. He also cautioned about questioning the motivations of the intelligence community but praised President-Elect Trump's pick of former Indiana Senator Dan Coats as the new Director of National Intelligence.
