Venable partner Diz Locaria was quoted in a May 16, 2017, E&E News article on the "Buy American" law for federal contractors. Passed by Congress during the Great Depression in 1933 to boost businesses and jobs, the Buy American Act mandated that the federal government give preference to suppliers who source at least 50 percent of the value of their content from the United States.
"The government generally takes its suppliers at their word that they're sourcing domestically, and no federal agency actively polices the 'Buy American' label," said Locaria.
