Venable partner Ashley Craig was quoted in a June 16, 2017, Law360 article on President Donald Trump's directive imposing new travel and trade restrictions with Cuba. The move effectively rolls back attempts by the Obama administration to normalize relations with the island nation. Under the directive, individual tourist travel will be banned and U.S. companies will be banned from doing business with entities controlled by Cuba's military conglomerate.
"A lot of the promise that people were hopeful of just didn't materialize on the commercial side," said Craig. "Tourism, though, did kick up, and that's going to have a big impact."
