Washington, DC (January 17, 2018) – Venable LLP is pleased to announce that Heather Capell Bramble has joined the firm's Regulatory Practice as a partner in the Washington, DC office. Ms. Bramble recently served as chief counsel and policy advisor to Commissioner Marietta Robinson at the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

Ms. Bramble is a seasoned policy advisor with extensive legal and management experience focused on compliance, regulation, investigations, litigation, and enforcement matters regarding consumer products, consumer protection, emerging technology, legislative and government affairs, and financial services. During her tenure at the CPSC, she provided advice and counsel on all proposed consumer product regulations, and mandatory standards, as well as product recalls, Section 15(b) reporting, administration litigation, and enforcement and settlement agreements, including referrals to the Department of Justice. She began her career 20 years ago at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in the Division of Enforcement. At the CFTC, she investigated and litigated a wide range of cases, including simple investor and customer fraud, off-exchange futures trading, and complex manipulation.

"Heather Bramble bolsters Venable's expanding consumer product safety and product liability practices. Her experience in senior government positions will be a great asset to clients seeking help responding to government investigations and navigating today's uncertain regulatory environment, said Lawrence H. Norton, chair of Venable's Government Division.

Ms. Bramble also spent nearly a decade working in the private sector in Washington, DC. As a partner at another law firm, she conducted large international internal investigations and represented clients before government agencies such as the CFTC, SEC, and the DOJ. She advised institutional clients on how to prevent violations of statutes and regulations from occurring by creating robust compliance programs with strong internal controls.

Commenting on her move to Venable, Ms. Bramble said, "The work that Venable does in the advertising and marketing areas, data privacy, and food and drug regulations, as well as in product liability litigation, line up perfectly with my expertise in consumer products and eCommerce. I look forward not only to helping to develop and grow a consumer product safety practice at the firm, but also providing support to other practices as well."

Ms. Bramble holds a J.D. from The University of Texas Law School and a B.A. in history and political science and Judaic studies from The State University of New York at Binghamton.
