On Wednesday, April 18, 2018, the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland honored Venable partner, Stacie Tobin, with its Distinguished Women's Award at its annual fundraising gala at The Center Club in Baltimore. The Distinguished Women's Award Celebration is an annual event that honors five local businesswomen whose professional accomplishments and community contributions make them positive role models for today's Girl Scouts. Other recipients this year are Swata Gandhi (DAP), Kristin Herber (Under Armour), Redonda Miller (Johns Hopkins Hospital), and Alicia Ritchie (Miles & Stockbridge).
In 2017, event proceeds ensured that more than 5,000 girls are able to participate in our Girl Scouts Community Program at no cost to their families. The Girl Scouts Community Program is a comprehensive program specific to the needs of girls from diverse and low-income communities. In Girl Scouts Community Programs, girls are part of a sisterhood that provides a safe and consistent space that girls can count on for support and friendship—often a rarity in their lives. These positive experiences with Girl Scout peers and adults provide a model for healthy relationships in girls' lives.
