On October 18, 2018, the Public Justice Center (PJC) honored Venable as a 2018 Outstanding Partner. The PJC recognized Venable attorneys Warren Hamel, Mitchell Mirviss, Walter Calvert, Darek Bushnaq, and AJ Lynn for their commitment to pro bono services.

Following is an excerpt from the PJC that highlights Venable's commitment to the organization:

The Public Justice Center honors Venable LLP as a 2018 Outstanding Partner, especially for the generous commitment of pro bono services on a number of critical fronts. Your lawyers' expertise in corporate and tax law has helped us represent our clients to the best possible outcomes. Your firm's generous financial support of our work on behalf of youth has seeded a powerful new initiative that will keep kids in school and fight institutional racism in school discipline. We are also thankful we can turn to you for advice and representation related to managing a nonprofit organization. Thank you.

The Public Justice Center uses legal advocacy tools to pursue social justice, economic and race equity, and fundamental human rights for people who are struggling to provide for their basic needs. The PJC pursues systemic impact to build a more just society by advocating for Maryland's low-income people in the courts, legislatures, government agencies, public education, and coalition building. The organization devotes advocacy and legal resources to the human right to housing, prisoners' rights, workplace justice, education stability, health and benefits, appellate advocacy, the civil right to counsel, and immigrants' rights.
