Venable represented pro bono client Brooklyn Community Pride Center in the signing of a lease for a new permanent headquarters in the redeveloped Bedford-Union Armory in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. The Brooklyn Community Pride Center provides services and support to the borough's LGBTQ+ community through original programming and partnerships with other organizations.
The 30-year lease creates the only center of its kind in Brooklyn specifically to serve residents who do not have the means or the inclination to travel into Manhattan for LGBTQ+-specific programs, services, and socialization. Capital support from former borough president Marty Markowitz and a $1 million gift from current borough president Eric Adams will ensure that the new facility will be a state-of-the-art, fully furnished space upon completion.
The Venable team was led by Suzanne St. Pierre, who was assisted by Neda Ameri.
The signing was covered by Patch.
