On October 14, 2021, Ariel Wolf was featured on Newsy’s Evening Debrief discussing how autonomous trucks will help address the supply chain crisis.
According to Newsy, the COVID-19 pandemic has led to worker shortages and extreme port congestion. The Biden administration is currently working on keeping ports like Los Angeles running 24/7 to address bottlenecks and speed up the movement of materials and goods through the supply chain. It's also working with state DMVs to issue commercial driver's licenses a lot faster because of the current shortage of truck drivers.
“There are a number of causes of the supply chain crisis and one of them certainly is the shortage of truck drivers, but that’s an issue that actually predates the acute crisis we are seeing today. Autonomous trucks are a technology that can really help solve the problem in the short term and the long term,” said Wolf, who serves as general counsel to the Self-Driving Coalition, a leading coalition of autonomous vehicle (AV) developers.
