Lawyers of Color recognized Shantel Asada, Alda Boateng, and Abhi Nagaraj in its 2022 Hot List, which honors junior and mid-level attorneys who exemplify integrity, high achievement, leadership, and passion for diversity.

Shantel Asada is an associate in Venable’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group. Ms. Asada has experience in state court, federal court, and arbitration, handling a variety of matters, including commercial disputes, shareholder disputes, and white collar litigation. During law school, she served as a judicial extern for the Honorable George H. Wu of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. She was also a member of the Poverty and Housing Law Clinic at the University of Chicago, where she represented indigent clients in eviction and housing subsidy termination cases.

Alda Boateng is an associate in Venable’s Private Wealth Planning Group. Ms. Boateng advises clients on matters related to trusts and estate planning. Her practice is informed by her experience counseling high-net-worth individuals; drafting estate planning documents; and advising business owners, corporate executives, real estate developers, and technology entrepreneurs on business succession planning and wealth transfer. She also helps clients with estate, trust, and charitable giving plans to address income tax issues and achieve multigeneration transfer of assets.

Abhi Nagaraj is an associate in Venable’s Real Estate Group. Mr. Nagaraj assists institutional investors, developers, nonprofits, government entities, and other organizations with complex commercial real estate transactions and development projects. His experience includes the acquisition, disposition, development, leasing, and financing of commercial, residential, mixed-use, and hospitality properties; the formation of partnerships, limited liability companies, REITs, joint ventures, and other co-investment vehicles; special servicing, workouts, modifications, and restructurings; construction and design agreements; and corporate transactions involving the acquisition or disposition of real estate assets.

Lawyers of Color is a 501(c)(3) devoted to promoting diversity in the legal profession and advancing democracy and equality in marginalized communities. It celebrates attorneys of color and conducts research and studies regarding the intersection of the legal profession and social justice.
