On May 15, 2023, Chris Borello and Matt McLaughlin were featured in Law360’s Office Snapshot Series on Venable’s move to 151 West 42nd Street, an eco-friendly Times Square skyscraper.

According to the article, Venable consolidated its midtown Manhattan offices and signed a 15-year lease with the Durst Organization for 157,808 square feet of office space in the 42nd Street building. The new office is now home to 175 attorneys, after setting up shop in New York more than 15 years ago.

“There's a real feeling of celebration of being together in one space on five contiguous floors joined by an elegant grand staircase that brings people together," said McLaughlin.

In 2018, Venable merged with intellectual property boutique Fitzpatrick Cella Harper & Scinto. That combination brought Borello to the BigLaw firm.

“The vast majority of the Fitzpatrick Cella folks that combined in have been working together close to all of our careers," Borello said. "A couple of folks have been laterals, but many of us have been working together for 20-plus years."

Venable's new office space features numerous conference rooms, including one that can accommodate almost 200 people, and a 3,000 square foot wraparound terrace on the 49th floor, according to the firm.

"When we opened the office in 2005, we were literally just 10 commercial litigators with some white collar experience, as well," McLaughlin said. "And our goal, our dream, in 2005, was to build a full-service operation with all the different practice services offered to clients. And we started by adding on a corporate group. And then we added on a real estate group. We had a very small IP group. And then the IP group exploded when Fitzpatrick joined us," he said.
