Washington, DC (February 12, 2025) – Venable LLP is pleased to announce that Joseph (Joe) Choi has joined the firm’s New York corporate practice as a partner. After more than 20 years spent counseling on banking and finance law, Mr. Choi brings a wealth of experience advising borrowers and lenders, including financial institutions, corporate borrowers, institutional investors, private investment funds, and private equity firms (including their portfolio companies) on complex domestic and cross-border financing transactions, including private credit transactions, recapitalizations, bridge and mezzanine financings, secured and unsecured financings, receivables sales and financings, structured and project financings, debtor-in-possession (DIP), and exit facility financings.
Additionally, Joe works with banks, lenders, private equity funds, sponsors, and other operating companies on a wide range of financing products and structures, including restructuring and workout transactions. Mr. Choi has substantial knowledge and experience in all aspects of corporate finance, including out-of-court workouts and restructurings, and regularly advises both borrowers and lenders on structuring and collateral matters, including cross-border issues and intricate split lien collateral and intercreditor structures. Finally, Joe also advises clients and noteholders on negotiating and structuring debt securities programs, private placements, and other structured financings and hybrid securitizations.
