Washington, DC (October 6, 2025) – Venable LLP is pleased to serve as outside counsel to the Studio Museum in Harlem as it prepares for its highly anticipated grand reopening on November 15, 2025. The Museum’s seven-floor, 82,000-square-foot building on West 125th Street will feature expanded galleries, artist studios, and public spaces that honor Harlem’s rich artistic legacy.

Venable’s New York Real Estate Group has represented the Museum since 2012, guiding the institution through every stage of planning, design, construction, and financing for this landmark project.

“This project exemplifies the extraordinary collaboration that can happen when cultural vision meets community commitment,” said Susan Golden, partner of Venable’s New York Real Estate Group. “The Studio Museum is an iconic institution that not only preserves the legacy of artists of African descent but also anchors Harlem’s creative energy for future generations. We are honored to have walked with them on this journey from vision to reality.”

The Studio Museum will mark its reopening with a celebratory Community Day on Saturday, November 15, welcoming Harlem residents and visitors from surrounding communities.

About the Studio Museum in Harlem

Founded in 1968 by a diverse group of artists, community activists, and philanthropists, the Studio Museum in Harlem is internationally known for its catalytic role in promoting the work of artists of African descent. The Studio Museum’s new home, situated at its longtime location on Manhattan’s West 125th Street, will open on November 15, 2025. Designed by Adjaye Associates with Cooper Robertson serving as executive architect, the building—the first created expressly for the institution’s program—will enable the Studio Museum to better serve a growing and diverse audience, provide additional educational opportunities for people of all ages, expand its program of world-renowned exhibitions, effectively display its singular collection, and strengthen its trailblazing Artist-in-Residence program.

While the Museum has been closed, its groundbreaking exhibitions, thought-provoking conversations, and engaging art-making workshops have continued at a variety of partner and satellite locations in Harlem and beyond. For more information, visit studiomuseum.org.
