Belinda Vega and Amit Rana Named Among Daily Journal's 2026 Leading Commercial Litigators

On April 1, 2026, Venable LLP partners Belinda Vega and Amit Rana were named Leading Commercial Litigators in California for 2026 by the Daily Journal. This recognition highlights prominent commercial litigators who handle some of the most consequential cases in California and beyond.

“Vega traces her path to the law to a role she assumed long before she ever set foot in
a courtroom,” the Daily Journal wrote. “Growing up, she served as an interpreter for her Spanish-speaking parents at school meetings, parent-teacher conferences and doctor’s appointments—an experience that shaped her understanding of what advocacy could mean.”

Vega now represents executives and consultants in complex business disputes, particularly involving contractual equity and governance rights, helping secure outcomes that preserve ownership interests and ongoing roles in their ventures. Belinda Vega recently represented Dr. David Cain, the inventor of multiple grape varietals, in a high-stakes dispute involving unpaid royalties. When Cain's former employer moved to sell its assets, Vega acted swiftly to halt the sale and assembled a team of corporate, IP, and litigation attorneys to secure her client’s rights, resulting in a favorable outcome for her client.

Reflecting on the case, Vega said, “I knew my client expected me to be aggressive and decisive and protect everything he had worked so hard to build,” underscoring her commitment to her clients’ best interests and bottom line.

“Rana has spent more than 12 years at the intersection of complex commercial litigation and class action defense, building a practice around the kind of high-stakes disputes where legal strategy and business judgment converge,” wrote the publication. “His work spans consumer class actions, false advertising defense and fast-moving commercial matters—often in industries where the legal landscape is still taking shape.”

“I like figuring out where those pressure points are by dissecting and pressure-testing emerging theories under Rule 12 and Rule 23 standards,” Rana said. “It’s the kind of work that rewards creativity as much as technical precision.”
