On May 1, Venable LLP partner Heather Mitchell was honored for her long-standing dedication to the Baltimore Curriculum Project (BCP) at the organization’s "Are You Smarter Than a BCP Student" Gala. Ms. Mitchell has served on the BCP’s board since its inception in 2006.

“The Baltimore Curriculum Project honors the dedication, leadership, and generosity of board member Heather Mitchell,” the organization wrote in their statement of recognition. “[Her] commitment, guidance and support have been instrumental in advancing our mission, strengthening our programs and shaping a brighter future for Baltimore’s children.”

Ms. Mitchell is a seasoned litigator with experience representing businesses in complex commercial litigation, including contract disputes, trust and estate litigation, education law, internal corporate investigations, and matters arising under the federal securities laws. She is a trusted advisor, assisting individuals and businesses in resolving personal and professional disputes in the most efficient and effective manner possible.

For three decades, the BCP has worked to reimagine what public education can be in Baltimore. Founded in 1996 to bring research-based teaching into city classrooms, BCP became one of Maryland’s first charter operators in 2005 and today is the city’s largest, proudly operating six neighborhood charter schools.
