On May 20, Ariel Wolf was quoted in Trucking Dive on proposed federal legislation establishing the first-ever national framework for autonomous commercial motor vehicles.
According to the article, the Build America 250 Act would direct the U.S. Department of Transportation to establish national safety, cybersecurity, crash reporting, and operational standards for autonomous trucks.
Wolf told Trucking Dive that a national framework would improve predictability for industry stakeholders and could accelerate investment in the sector. “Having this language built into the text of the broader Surface Transportation Reauthorization bill means that the committee leadership views the framework for ADS-equipped commercial motor vehicles as a key national priority,” Wolf said. “There’s a long way to go but this is a great first step.”
