On June 12, Michael Bloom participated in the Baltimore Business Journal’s Greater Baltimore Insights and Strategies for Today’s Market panel.
According to the article, panelists discussed the continued strength of Maryland’s lower middle-market M&A sector despite challenges posed by higher interest rates, inflation, and taxes. The discussion also covered sustained buyer demand, the importance of preparing a business well in advance of a sale, Maryland’s business climate, and tax strategies that can help business owners maximize value when exiting their companies.
Commenting on the importance of acquisition preparation, Bloom said, “I always think that a business should be run as if it’s going to be sold. You have to make sure that your house is always in order. You can’t say I’m thinking about selling. It’s time to clean up. It might be a little too late and it puts you at a disadvantage.”
