On July 3, Law360 quoted Paul Levin on the growing demand for real estate attorneys with experience in sports venue development and transactions.
According to the article, sports real estate projects are often more complex than traditional real estate deals because they require attorneys to navigate not only land acquisition, financing, and construction, but also the operational needs of sports teams and the fan experience.
Commenting on these complexities, Levin said, “It's complicated because it involves land acquisition, construction and all of the normal things, but it's also the team's home, so you're thinking about operations, how to get fans in there, parking and all the different things that go into the game-day experience and a team's business.”
Asked what makes a successful attorney in this niche, Levin emphasized the importance of a strong real estate foundation: “The most important thing is to be an excellent real estate lawyer, since sports real estate is adjacent to that. It's using real estate skills and adjusting for specific circumstances and then building expertise.”
