Developments of the new privacy and data security legislation will have a critical impact on the way direct marketers collect and store customer data. Panel will provide history of recent state/federal rules and enforcement actions by the FTC and speak to latest developments of requirements in connection with dual obligations of safeguarding consumer data and notifying consumers when marketers experience a security breach that compromises sensitive consumer data, including a discussion of pitfalls to avoid.
