Melissa Landau Steinman will speak from 9:50 - 10:15 a.m. as part of the "Understanding and Complying with Sweepstakes, Promotion and Marketing Laws" webinar. This discussion will focus on the legal and industry standards for mobile marketing. Learn what rules apply, such as the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and the CAN-SPAM Act, as well as learn how the states and the federal government are attempting to regulate telemarketing and email marketing. Other topics to be addressed include:

  • an overview of the law of sweepstakes and contests and how it applies to mobile marketing
  • the FCC's interpretation of the laws regarding text messages, and what exceptions to the TCPA's coverage of text messages may apply
  • the function of the National Do Not Call Registry and its rules
  • other industry guidelines such as the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) and the DMA's Guidelines for Ethical Business Practice
