Social media platforms give businesses new ways to reach out and connect with customers at a relatively low cost to the company. Though these advertising models can be extraordinarily effective, social media can also implicate new and complex regulatory risks. This Legal Quick Hit program will address different areas of the social media regulatory landscape such as the NLRB, the FTC Endorsement Guidelines, privacy and behavioral advertising rules (including the self-regulatory efforts), FDA activities, and FINRA involvement in this rapidly developing area of law. The program will discuss legal challenges and provide compliance tools for companies to consider when using social media platforms.
