This session is designed to cover the wide range of legal issues facing the business manager in independent schools. As a survey course, we will briefly discuss the topics that most often arise to provide the participants exposure to the many areas of school law. The goal of this session is to present the highlights of each topic so that business managers can know in advance what may come across their desks and what hot topics are popping up around the country. This is intended for professionals new to the job as well as those who are very experienced. Included in the discussion will be social networking, student discipline, tuition collection and enrollment document drafting, investment challenges and the fiduciary duty of the business manager as it relates to the board, head and school community.
