gave a presentation titled “Functional Foods: Claims, Substantiation, and Labeling,” at the FDLI Food Advertising Conference on October 8 in New York, NY. Her presentation discussed the different types of claims and what constitutes a “reasonable basis” for claim substantiation and what evidence is required to avoid FTC action against your product label. Hazards of claim, including social media pitfalls and statistical significance were also addressed during the presentation.
