Webinar

“Payment Systems” are the life-blood of the U.S. economy. They are the electronic highways over which payments for goods and services travel and are settled. The topic includes a wide variety of transactions -- credit and debit card transactions; cash withdrawals and wire transfers (wholesale and retail); emerging alternative payments; “payday” and online lenders; and the new world of mobile payments.

During this presentation, Ed Wilson, Ellen Traupman Berge, and Andrew Bigart use payment processors to illustrate critically important topics in this field. They are joined by one of the “gatekeepers” of the payment system, who provides an in-depth perspective from the processors’ point of view.

Topics include:

  • Enforcement and regulatory issues impacting payment system use and operation

  • Interaction of alternative payment systems with traditional financial institutions

  • Impact of Operation Choke Point

  • Emerging issues in the payments world – treatment of cyber currencies and mobile payments

This program is geared toward attorneys who practice financial services and commercial law, as well as compliance officers who are responsible for assessing risk.
