Schools have the obligation to protect confidential records, communications, and other private information of students. With the wide range of documentation and the many conversations that occur with students, parents, and between colleagues, it is easy to breach a student’s privacy and expose the school to liability. This session will define and identify “confidential student information” and provide strategies for maintaining student privacy and avoiding liability that arises from a breach.
