The job of a head of school is incredibly stressful. Dealing with employee issues, parent concerns, board “suggestions” and the countless other tasks and responsibilities on a head’s plate can quickly undermine a commitment to staying “mindful.” Wise heads (and boards) hardwire stress reducing strategies into the head of school contract. Caryn Pass will review the various provisions that heads should consider when negotiating their contracts including those that provide current and future financial security, personal and professional development and support in navigating the challenges of the job. She’ll also zenfully touch on other “legal issues” faced by independent schools.
