This program will provide an overview for nonprofits of both U.S. and global privacy and security trends for 2018. A top-notch panel comprised of both outside counsel and in-house experience will discuss privacy practices that are facing regulatory and legislative scrutiny, as well as review current data security practices and breach scenarios that are likely to attract attention for your nonprofit. In addition, we will explore the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in advance of the rapidly approaching May 2018 compliance date. We will highlight real-life compliance examples and provide practical solutions to the most common privacy and data security issues and challenges being encountered by the nonprofit sector.
Among other topics, we will address:
- Predicting U.S. Privacy — We will predict what practices may attract unwanted attention in 2018 and identify the sources of any new privacy obligations that may be placed on nonprofits.
- International Data Protection Changes — 2018 is the year that the GDPR finally comes into effect. We will highlight the top operational GDPR compliance issues as we countdown to full implementation, and will look closely at some of the most challenging issues for nonprofits, such as consent, privacy impact assessments, and international data transfer.
- Data Security Trends — We will discuss who is most victimized by cyberattacks, where the threats are coming from, highlight areas of particular vulnerability, and offer practical solutions to help mitigate your nonprofit's risk.
