The New York State Association of Independent Schools Trustee Governance Conference

The Support and Care of the Head of School

This event has already occurred.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a stressful experience for all members of the school community. Every day, leadership is required to make multiple decisions impacting the safety, security, and well-being of students, faculty, staff, families, and others with affiliation to the school. As the ultimate decision maker, heads are especially feeling the pressure and stress of these decisions and are carrying the heavy responsibility of balancing the needs and wants of all constituents. It can be a lonely job, and heads are exhausted!

At this critical moment it is more important than ever for boards to support and encourage the head of school and show the love! This session discusses the various ways boards can provide that support while still addressing concerns, maintaining good governance, and avoiding conflicts.
