We look forward to welcoming you back to our DC office for the first time since March 2020 as we resume our Venable DEI in-person events. If you are outside of the DC area, we invite you to register to watch the event virtually.
A renowned U.S. goalkeeper with a World Cup championship and two Olympic gold medals to her credit, Briana Scurry understands what it takes to face down challenges and persevere through difficult times. Please join us in our DC office or virtually for a conversation with Briana, which will cover her struggles to become one of the first African American professional female soccer players and one of the few openly LGBTQ players in the league. Because of the many parallels between her athletic career and the real-life challenges many professionals experience, Briana’s tools for success are likely to resonate far beyond the soccer pitch.
Named starting goalkeeper for the U.S. women’s national soccer team in 1994, Briana led her team to many achievements during her record 173 international appearances. Along with discussing some of the highlights of her storied career and the role she played in helping to diversify women’s professional soccer, Briana will share her efforts to be seen and accepted and her determination to give every obstacle that came her way the boot.
