Harley Geiger participated in the panel "Hack the Planet Gently with a Code of Practice" at Shmoocon, an annual convention for the demonstration of technology exploitation, presentations of inventive software and hardware solutions, and open discussions of critical infosec issues.
The panel covered such topics as whether it is time to articulate a code of practice for good-faith security research and what one might include, as well as what challenges might exist in the creation, adoption, and utilization of a code. The panelists also discussed the broader legal landscape for researchers and the lines between security research, hacktivism, and hack back.
