Current Policy Gaps and Industry Needs: Advancing ADS Safety in the U.S. and Global Markets

As we work to meet the safety needs for automated driving systems (ADS) in the U.S. and global markets, we want to ensure the process takes into consideration all stakeholders and serves as a framework for addressing future technology needs. Part 1 of this session will include three presentations that will highlight ADS policy and standardization needs across industry. This part will also address state approaches to ADS regulation across the United States. Part 2 will involve a panel discussion by representatives from government and industry. The panelists will discuss the status, challenges, and needs for ADS safety identified by the presenters in Part 1. This session will serve as the current state of ADS policy and what is needed to move head.
Election Impacts—What Keeps the Mobility Industry up at Night

This panel will address the results of the 2024 elections and provide an informed assessment of the projected impact on issues of direct interest to the mobility industry. The speakers will discuss a wide scope of concerns, including the makeup of the 119th Congress; tax reform and the future prospects for specific items, such as the EV tax credit; the administration’s agenda for its first 100 days; potential changes to the Inflation Reduction Act and the specific programs focused on auto sector growth; the U.S.-China relationship and the tariff landscape; and new emissions and vehicle safety requirements.
