On Thursday, June 4, Hilary Atzrott Hamburg presented “Zoning Due Diligence in NYC: Finding Red Flags in Commercial Transactions” for the New York State Bar Association. This CLE webinar covered key zoning and land use considerations when conducting due diligence in NYC real estate acquisitions. The presentation informed attorneys who typically practice outside of NYC about key “red flags” and when it is best to bring in a NYC attorney to assist with a hairy zoning issue, and included a summary of NYC land use agencies and approvals, how to search for approvals and violations beyond what is typically provided in a title report, and basics of key Certificate of Occupancy issues and violations.
