Juliana Reno will present “Family Building Benefits,” at the 37th Annual Health and Welfare Benefit Plans National Institute, hosted by the American Bar Association (ABA) Joint Committee on Employee Benefits (JCEB), on October 27.
Her presentation will examine the legal framework governing benefits related to fertility treatment, surrogacy, adoption, and other family-building programs, with a particular focus on ERISA, the Affordable Care Act, and the Internal Revenue Code. The discussion will explore how these benefits fit within (and outside of) existing employee benefit plan structures and the tax treatment of various arrangements. Juliana will also address common design and administration pitfalls, emerging trends in the marketplace, and unresolved legal questions that practitioners should monitor.
