Venable LLP is pleased to announce the launch of the new blog, Political Law Briefing, authored by the Political Law Practice Group, and edited by practice co-chairs Ronald Jacobs and Lawrence Norton. The blog will cover the complex rules governing interactions with public officials and candidates, including campaign finance issues, lobbying disclosure, pay-to-play laws, and ethics and gift rules.
Mr. Norton, formerly General Counsel at the Federal Election Commission, recently joined Venable’s political law practice. Mr. Norton is a key figure in the political law field, advising on federal and state campaign finance laws, lobbying rules and governmental ethics. He served as FEC General Counsel from 2001-2007, playing a pivotal role in the implementation of the groundbreaking Bipartisan Campaign Finance Reform Act of 2002 (popularly known as McCain-Feingold).
