Brown Peter

Peter Brown has more than a decade of experience consulting clients, such as Fortune 50 companies, national governments, and international organizations, on international standards engagement and technology strategy and governance. Peter also has 25 years of experience in public service, notably serving in the European Parliament. He has held several leadership positions, including Chief of Staff of Parliament’s majority caucus leader, Policy Adviser to the Deputy Secretary General, Head of the service that led the Parliament’s first information and technology governance strategy, and Senior Adviser on Technology Policy in both Austria and most recently in Washington, DC.

Peter's experience and knowledge span a wide array of political, societal, cultural, entrepreneurial, scientific, and technological domains, which have led him to work on subject areas as varied as governance and policymaking; standards development (including leading projects on privacy, identity management, and trust; air transport; cloud computing: artificial intelligence; internet of things (IoT); cybersecurity; and music technologies). As a published author and having worked in multiple languages, he has a reputation as a polymath and polyglot.

Peter is the author of several books and articles on the growth of European political parties as well as on issues regarding boardroom governance of technology, as well as on governance implications of the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
