Herb Frerichs is General Counsel for Perdue Farms, the privately held company that owns and operates a number of international food and agricultural companies, including Perdue Foods, Perdue AgriBusiness, Coleman Natural Foods and Niman Ranch. Herb is a member of Perdue's Management Committee and also directs Perdue's Government Relations function. He was Associate General Counsel at UNC Incorporated, a publicly-traded aviation services company from 1991-1995.

Herb offers businesses perspectives from both the inside and outside and as General Counsel to a major Maryland company, blends this inside knowledge of an industry expert with the broad perspective of a legal and business analyst. He regularly consults with clients on their day-to-day legal issues, as well as complex corporate transactions such as on mergers and acquisitions, and joint ventures.

  • Herb is a Trustee of The Boys' Latin School of Maryland and a member of the School's Development and Building and Grounds Committees.
  • Herb is also a Member of the Board of the Hippodrome Foundation and serves as the Hippodrome Foundation's Treasurer.
  • He is a Trustee of Athletic & Scholarship Programs, United States Naval Academy Foundation and served as a Trustee to the United States Naval Academy Alumni Association and served on the Executive and Joint Finance & Audit Committees, and as Chair of the Governance Committee, from 2008 to 2014.
  • Herb was Chairman of the Historic Ships in Baltimore from 2008 to 2015 and was Trustee of The Living Classrooms from 2006 until 2017.
  • Herb was appointed by Gov. Martin O'Malley to both the Appellate Judicial Nominating Committee (2007-2011) and the Maryland Economic Development Corporation (2011-2015).
  • Herb is on the Board of Virginia Chamber of Commerce. His civic participation also has included membership on the Board of Directors of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce and participation in the GBC Leadership Program, Class of 2003.
