Gregory Garno practices in the areas of complex commercial litigation, banking litigation, professional malpractice, creditors’ rights, and bankruptcy. Gregory represents major financial institutions, corporations, fiduciaries, and individuals in significant complex litigation in both state and federal courts, in both jury and non-jury matters and arbitrations. His commercial litigation experience includes contract disputes, business torts, officer/director liability, corporate and shareholder disputes, collection matters, insurance, receiverships, and complex fraud actions.

Gregory is a member of the National Association of Federal Equity Receivers, the trial section of The Florida Bar, and the Miami-Dade County Bar Association.

Experience

Representative Matters

  • Served as special litigation counsel to the assignee for the benefit of creditors for Laser Spine Institute, LLC and affiliated entities pursuing claims for recovery of more than $110,000,000
  • Served as Chapter 7 trustee of the owner of the former Plantation Fashion Mall, which includes over 32 acres of commercial real property in Fort Lauderdale
  • Represents the federal court-appointed receiver in 321 Loans receivership and over 100 affiliated entities, in an action brought by the FTC regarding a nationwide debt relief scheme that defrauded over 35,000 consumers out of more than $85 million
  • Represents the federal court-appointed receiver over Pointbreak Media, LLC and its affiliated entities that engaged in a multi-million-dollar telemarking and robocall scam targeting small business owners
  • Served as counsel to the court-appointed receiver and Chapter 11 fiduciary in E.S. Bankest, L.C. receivership in pursuit of avoidance and other claims arising from a $170 million fraudulent scheme
  • Served as counsel to the court-appointed and Chapter 11 trustee in a Louis Pearlman Ponzi scheme in the prosecution of fraudulent transfer claims in connection with a $400 million scheme against a financial institution, resulting in a settlement for the client well in excess of eight figures
  • Served as counsel to the court-appointed receiver over Bogdan Financial Group, Inc. and its affiliated defendants that operated a Ponzi scheme that deprived hundreds of residents of the state of Florida of over $16 million
  • Served as counsel to one of the nation’s largest architectural glass and aluminum fabricators in Chapter 11 proceedings
  • Prevailed in arbitration of disaffected franchisees’ claims relating to merger of two food industry franchisors, including claims alleging abandonment of trademarks, violation of state acts, and earnings claim violations
