Lee Pan

Pan Lee has nearly 15 years of experience handling intellectual property matters for global technology companies in a variety of technology fields, including wireless communications, video streaming, semiconductor fabrication, mobile applications, and 3D rendering. Pan has managed litigation strategy in district court patent cases, 337 investigations at the International Trade Commission (ITC), and inter partes review (IPR) and post-grant review (PGR) proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), as well as appeals to the Federal Circuit.

Pan has also advised clients on design-around strategies, patent portfolio management, and coordination of parallel international litigations. Prior to his work as an IP attorney, Pan worked as an engineer in the research and development arm of a global security and aerospace company, designing missile defense and satellite systems and researching high-power GaN amplifiers, thermophotovoltaics, and nanoparticle applications.

Representative Matters

  • Obtained a final determination of no violation at the ITC based on non-infringement and invalidity of all four patents involving UMTS/LTE standards asserted against mobile communication modules
  • Obtained final written decisions finding all 100+ challenged claims unpatentable in IPRs of four semiconductor manufacturing patents
  • Resolved patent cases involving animation software filed in the Central District of California against movie and game studios following an order limiting the applicable damages base
  • Obtained a judgment of invalidity of all asserted patents involving video uploading/publishing in Delaware; affirmed by the Federal Circuit
  • Obtained a judgment of invalidity of a digital streaming patent in the Eastern District of Texas; affirmed by the Federal Circuit
  • Achieved global resolution of patent disputes following an initial determination of no violation of all intervened patents at the ITC targeting app messaging, cloud sync, and tethering
