Sophia Porotsky focuses her practice on complex civil litigation. Sophia represents plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts in New York and nationwide, serving clients across a diverse range of industries, including financial services, hospitality, healthcare, life sciences, and media and entertainment. Her experience spans a wide variety of high-stakes disputes, including securities fraud, trade secret misappropriation, business torts, breach of fiduciary duty, complex contract claims, and international commercial disputes. Sophia also advises clients on corporate governance and investigations and represents them in federal and state government enforcement matters.

While in law school, Sophia was an award-winning trial advocate and served on the executive board of the Brendan Moore Trial Advocates. She was also a member of the Moot Court team. Through Fordham Law School's Federal Litigation Clinic, she spent two semesters representing indigent clients in civil and criminal proceedings in federal district court and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

  • Represented a medical device company in expedited Delaware Court of Chancery proceedings involving a cross-border complex breach of contract and trade secret misappropriation dispute
  • Represented a hotel management company in litigation against a former executive and his competing venture involving allegations of trade secret misappropriation, breach of fiduciary duty, and tortious interference based on the theft of confidential information and the solicitation of clients
  • Represented an international hotel management company in cross-border litigation arising out of a dispute under a hotel management agreement
  • Advised the Demand Review Committee of the board of an alternative asset management company and led an investigation relating to shareholder claims alleging regulatory violations involving the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC), and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
  • Represented a former officer of an international tech company in securities fraud litigation in New York state court
  • Provided strategic advice to a public company in its securities law proceedings arising out of a merger transaction
